TDS136

The Elastec TDS136 floating drum oil skimmer (Specs) is designed for continuous duty in oil spill or industrial applications. The TDS136 skimmer is ideal for response operations in shallow waters such as creeks, rivers, and lakes as well as in harbors and near-shore incidents. The TDS136 floating drum oil spill skimmer is capable of recovering both light and heavy oils with very low water content, typically 2 to 3%. This model can be supplied with our ES400 helical screw pump for heavy oil transfer, our E150, or air operated diaphragm pump.

The TDS136 has the same shallow draft and lightweight design of the TDS118 and offers twice the verified nameplate capacity. The motor, gearbox and drums are capable of thousands of hours of trouble-free operations. The scrapers are self-adjusting to allow for wear. A tough guard can be fitted to the front of the oil skimmer. The oil skimmer is available with hydraulic or pneumatic motor.

Elastec grooved drum skimmers were used in a test at Ohmsett to determine if skimming operations are possible for fresh and weathered Bakken oil.

Electric supply with MiniMax skimmer

The electric motor drives a hydraulic pump ( power pack ) which in turn provides hydraulic oil under pressure to drive the drums. The skimmed oil is drained from the back of the skimmer. The electric motor can be supplied with TEFC or Explosion Proof motor.

Suction pumps have a limited suction lift, therefore in situations such as pits a submersible pump is coupled to the back of the skimmer that can pump the skimmed oil greater distances.

Compressed air is provided by the site. Oil collected by the drum is drained into a slotted pipe (API) or other.

For situations where it is not possible to drain the recovered oil, an air operated diaphragm pump is included in the setup. Compressed air is provided by the site.

Suction pumps are only able to draw up to 29 ft vertically, therefore in situations such as pits the pump is mounted on the skimmer and can pump vertically a greater distance. Compressed air is provided by the site.

Compressed air is provided by the brakes from a vacuum truck. Oil collected by the drum sucked directly into the truck using its vacuum system.
