Oil Spill Response Training
Elastec, Inc has been accredited by the Nautical Institute in accordance with its accreditation policy and procedures to provide Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response, and Co-operation (OPRC) Level 1 training (IMO Equivalent).
The International Convention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation Convention obligates governments to establish a program of exercises for oil pollution response organizations and training of relevant personnel.
The International Maritime Organization has developed a range of training courses to address all aspects of oil spill planning, response, and management. These are known as the OPRC Model Courses. These courses have been designed and developed by an international group of experts from governments and industry.
IMO 1 is for workers who respond on-site and clean up the oil spill.
The training includes classroom topics and field exercises on local oil spill response equipment.
Objective of Training:
Gain and demonstrate a level of competence and understanding of the weathering process of oil in the marine environment, implement efficient shoreline clean-up using different response techniques, selecting appropriate equipment and participate in oil spill response teams onsite.
