DRUG TERMINATOR

The Elastec Drug Terminator is a portable, drug disposal incinerator for evidence drugs, paraphernalia and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). It was designed for the on-site disposal of evidence property, prison contraband, and drugs collected during community take-back programs. Law enforcement agencies, prisons, military installations and medical facilities can destroy drugs by injecting them into a cyclone of fire with the Drug Terminator’s patented Easy-Feed Cartridge. We also manufacture deposit boxes for drug take-back programs. Read our FAQ. Please fill out our questionnaire to help us determine the type of barrel burner you may need. Order replacement parts for the Elastec Drug Terminator.

In addition to drugs, the Drug Terminator also burns other non-hazardous substances such as documents, plants, food, and lab materials with minimal environmental impact. Non-combustibles, such as syringes and sharps, are sterilized and can be safely disposed in accordance with municipal waste requirements.

More efficient than open barrel burning, the intense heat creates a clean, smoke-free burn disintegrating the discarded materials into an average of 1% to 3% ash residue. The drug disposal incinerator assembly is easily moved from one location to another on a dolly-like cart.

The mobile incinerator attaches to a removable head or “open-end” drum as specified by ISO Standards. The measurement of this drum type is standard internationally. ISO 15750, published in 2002, traditionally identifies this drum as being 55 American Gallon.

Incineration is a waste treatment process that involves the combustion of organic substances contained in waste materials. Incineration and other high-temperature waste treatment systems are described as “thermal treatment”. Incineration of waste materials converts the waste into ash, flue gas and heat. The ash is mostly formed by the inorganic constituents of the waste.

Drug Terminator Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this where I am located?
The Drug Terminator falls into the category of Cyclonic Barrel Burner covered by EPA Regulation 40 CFR Part 60 (Standards of Performance) exempted under section 60.2555. Always contact your regulatory authority before use.

“(p) Units that combust contraband or prohibited goods. Your incineration unit is excluded if the unit is owned or operated by a government agency such as police, customs, agricultural inspection, or a similar agency to destroy only illegal or prohibited goods such as illegal drugs, or agricultural food products that can not be transported into the country or across State lines to prevent bio contamination. The exclusion does not apply to items either confiscated or incinerated by private, industrial, or commercial entities.”

What can I burn in the unit?
Narcotics, pharmaceuticals, paraphernalia, clothing, most evidence, documents, etc.

How much does it burn?
The Drug Terminator is rated at 50lbs/hr but has been known to burn up to 300lbs/hr depending on the type of material being destroyed.

Is there any smoke?
The Drug Terminator releases some smoke when first started but this is only wood or charcoal smoke and therefore harmless. Once it reaches temperature, there should be no smoke or smell released by the unit to affect the operators or bystanders.

Is any PPE required?
Heat resistant gloves and safety glasses are recommended, plus any other PPE as deemed necessary.

How long will the steel drum last?
This depends on the frequency and duration of the burns. The steel barrel will eventually rust and burn through at which point it will need to be replaced. Stainless steel drums are available.

How long does the unit run with a 20lb bag of charcoal?
25 to 30 minutes.

Can I add more charcoal once the unit is running low on fuel?
Yes, using the Easy-Feed cartridge.

What is the lifespan of the unit?
10 plus years with regular maintenance.

What are the annual running costs for the unit?
This depends on the number and duration of burns, the costs will be;
a) fuel (a bag of charcoal per burn or equivalent in wood)
b) electricity for 45 minutes approx. allowing cooling time (per burn)
c) servicing of filters
d) any other parts, such as the blower or drum as necessary

What components need servicing or replacing over time?
Blowers, air hose and spark screen.

What is the difference between a SmartAsh and a Drug Terminator?
The Drug Terminator has a self-closing heavy stainless steel flap which allows the Easy-Feed cartridge to inject materials into the barrel while burning.

What maintenance is required?
The unit is very straight forwards, simple maintenance can be conducted by the end user. Air filters should be cleaned before each use, the barrel clamps oiled.

Does the standard setup include the drum?
Yes (please refer to quotation).

“Most incinerators are far too large for an agency as small as ours. The size of the Drug Terminator is perfect for us to do 2-3 drug burns a year instead of stockpiling them for several years.”

Brian A.

“I came in last night for a few hours to run the Drug Terminator and see how and if it really works. In summary…. It really works!”

Frank G.

“Our department recently purchased one of the Drug Terminator incinerators. Our first use of the unit reduced 7, 55-gallon drums of miscellaneous expired prescription medications and their containers to a small amount of ash which filled about 1/3 of the drum.”
