Elastec’s INLAND BOOM SHOP is an intensive, hands-on workshop designed for responders who require in-depth river booming training. Cody Harris, president and co-founder of the Whitewater Rescue Institute and WRI Environmental Response, will be the lead trainer at the workshop.

The three-day workshop will begin with a full day of classroom orientation at Elastec in Carmi, Illinois followed by two days of rigorous booming on the Wabash River in New Harmony, Indiana. The INLAND BOOM SHOP qualifies as an 8-hour Hazwoper refresher course.

Price for the comprehensive Inland Boom Shop is $1,250 per person and includes lunches. Travel, lodging, breakfast, and evening meals are additional.

DAY 2 – WEDNESDAY, MAY 23, 2018 / 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM / Instructor-led On-water Deployment

The second day will be on the Wabash River in New Harmony, Indiana with instructor-led deployments of BoomVanes, mid-stream anchoring, and other fast water tactics and equipment covered in the previous day’s classroom training.

DAY 3 – THURSDAY, MAY 24, 2018 / 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM / Student-led On-water Deployment

The third day will be student-led deployment. Participants will walk through the ICS, safety, and deployment strategy exercises in teams.

Cody HarrisCody Harris is President and Co-Founder of the Whitewater Rescue Institute and WRI Environmental Response. He has 27 years of experience working on rivers as a search and rescue team member, river guide, kayak instructor, emergency medical technician, technical rescue instructor and environmental emergency responder.

Since 2009, Cody has responded to numerous inland oil spills, where he and his team have assisted in the safe transport of workers via jet boat, developed safety plans for on water operations, and deployed containment boom for oil recovery.

In addition, Cody has developed curriculum and training guidelines for Swiftwater Spill Response trainings for Oil Spill Response Organizations (OSROs). He has developed Geographic Response Plans for clients and conducted multiple functional exercises and equipment drills on fast water locations.
