Floating Baffle Systems Floating Nets

NYC trash boomFloating Net Booms are used for a wide variety of applications across various industries. The use of nets reduces the cost of expensive cleanup programs, provides controlled maintenance and minimizes the impact on the environment due to aquatic based activities.

Elastec/American Marine manufactures most of its floating net boom to our customer’s requirements. Each system is designed to incorporate the best components for the specific application. Some considerations are fouling or bio-fouling, corrosive resistant properties, ability to withstand ultraviolet radiation (UV) and hydrodynamic conditions. Special attention is given to ease of use, superior performance, and overall cost reduction.

Our nets are manufactured in a number of different materials depending on their purpose. Common net materials include stainless steel, and marine grade coated nylon netting. Net booms can be custom made to depth and strength requirements ranging from light duty to deep robust applications. Custom designed systems available.

Some typical uses include controlling trash at outfalls, debris around construction sites, aquatic vegetation at intakes and boat slips as well as marine life exclusion in swim areas and construction zones.

CASE STUDYFloating nets

PROJECT:
FISH SEGREGATION
LOCATION:
San Clemente Rancho California
PROBLEM:
The project called for two species of fish coexisting in one lake to be segregated and at the same time not adversely affecting the natural water circulation. The curtains had to match the bathymetry of the lake bottom to ensure separation. There could not be any opening in the curtain along a 600' stretch across the lake, and the curtain had to allow the water to flow.
SOLUTION:
Elastec/American Marine manufactured a continuous 600' long pervious curtain made such that there were no openings in the system. The curtain contoured the lake bottom ensuring a good seal. The curtain skirt material was a custom geotextile fabric allowing for the circulation of the lake water. The curtain exceeded expectations and is in year around operation.
